Thomas Theisman was raised in a creche in the Legislaturalist era and entered the People's Navy directly from High School. He first came to prominence having emigrated to the planet Masada in the Endicott system and taken a post in the Masadan Navy.
Masada had recently purchased two warships from the People's Republic in response to the military assistance being offered to the neighbouring Yeltsin's Star (the planet Grayson) by the Star Kingdom of Manticore. Manticore was at the time trying (and would succeed) to use hostilities between the two systems to obtain basing rights and alliances in the area from which to threaten the PRH. Theisman commanded a City-class destroyer, Principality, and in a battle in which his ship was the only modern warship available to Masada whilst Grayson received support from a Manticoran destroyer, light cruiser and heavy cruiser, crippled the light cruiser (forcing its evacuation from the system), and damaged the destroyer.
Masada could fight Grayson but not Manticore, and when the system was occupied Theisman returned to the PRH and re-joined the Navy. He served with distinction in the early part of the present war under Commodore Reichman and later rose to be second in command of the ill-fated attempt to liberate Masada which was ambushed in the Yeltsin system. His skill in saving his force from the ambush and his willingness to engage the enemy earned him further promotion, and he has led his subordinates successfully in many actions.
Theisman has now been promoted to Admiral and commands the Barnet system, from where his subordinate, Rear-Admiral Lester Tourville, has recently scored the impressive victory against Manticore in the Adler System. This included the capture of the piratical Manticoran naval officer, Commodore Harrington.
