Citizen Admiral Javier Giscard, in part of a co-ordinated series of attacks deep inside Manicoran and Allied territory, has completely destroyed the orbital warehousing and manufacturing infrastructure of the planet Medusa in the Basilisk system. In addition, the entire Medusa guard force of 8 Superdreadnoughts and screening elements under the plutocratic Manticoran Vice Admiral Sir Silas Markham was completely destroyed.
The Basilisk system is Manticoran home territory, and this is the first time that such a raid has been carried out during the war. It is to be hoped that the success of this action will encourage the oppressed citizens of the star kingdom to resist more the depredations of their masters. At the very least, it is hoped that fear of additional attacks will result in the withdrawal of substatial forces for home defence, lessening the threat to the People for some time. It is most unlikely that the plutocrats of Manticore will tolerate the monetary losses that this raid will represent, and a demand for extra protection is considered almost inevitable by commentators.
